<FONT SIZE=+2>C</FONT>onover's Bay Head Inn is recognized as one of the first and finest bed and breakfast inns in New Jersey. Previous owners in the early 1900's include William and Mary Bristol of Princeton and the L. Hastings Alexander family. By 1912 architect M.B. Medary of Philadelphia redesigned the Alexander summer cottage into the full service Winchester Inn. With the concept of bed and breakfast in mind, Carl and Beverly Conover bought the Winchester in 1970.

Bay Head captures the feeling of a late 19th century residential seaside village. The distinctive weather-shingled houses give the village a sense of permanence and character.
